Lamac enters senior A finalin Alegado Cup hoop

CEBU, Philippines —  Lamac rode on a scintillating 33-point show by Joseph Cabahug as it swept Tayud, 94-85, in their best-of-three semifinal series to book a championship ticket in senior category A of the 11th Mayor Teresa “Nene” P. Alegado Cup Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.

Jaycob Baguio added 15 points for Lamac, which dictated the pace of the match since getting off to a rousing 23-17 start.

Lamac padded its lead to double digits at halftime, 47-36, and never looked back from thereon.

Gerald Fernandez tallied 24 markers while Arnel Momo and Franco Te combined for 23 points but their efforts proved futile for Tayud.

In midget category A though, Tayud drew first blood against Jugan in their race-to-2 semis duel via a 103-69 blowout .

Xeemon Cuyos fired 21 points while Xisco Cuyos and Miko Mata connived for 31 points for Tayud, which ripped the game apart right in the first period, 30-18.

Jugan pulled within eight points after three quarters, 55-63, but Tayud ended the match with a devastating 40-14 rally to come up with a 34-point rout.

Zairyl Pilapil finished with 18 points, Shan Sarno scored 15 while Lee Michael Dahil had 12 points in Jugan’s losing stand. — EBV
