Pulpogan, Casili hurdle semis openers

CEBU, Philippines —  The defending champion Pulpogan and Casili drew first blood over their respective rivals in the best-of-three semifinal series of the 11th Mayor Teresa “Nene” P. Alegado Cup Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion, Cebu.

Brothers Russel and Rexon Moneva conspired for 32 points while Cris Perolino added eight markers as Pulpogan slammed Jugan, 104-89, to move a win away from the senior category A final.

It was cruise control for Pulpogan since it sprinted to a blistering 32-18 start. Jugan couldn’t even trim the deficit even just to a single digit.

Alamer Ibale, Benhur Villamor and Erwin Brigole combined for 39 points in a losing effort for Jugan.

In midget category A, Casili downed Pulpogan, 99-88, to knock on the final door.

Jatt Sabellana topscored for Casili with 24 points followed by Kent Encaba with 20 points while Clyde Alilin contributed 12 markers.

In SK category A, Pulpogan eliminated Danglag, 86-76, behind the deadly triumvirate of Rovello Robles, Raymundo Osabel, and Paolo Dalumpines who connived for 53 big points.

Pulpogan now needs one more victory to barge into the semifinal round. — EBV
