GOAT Basketball League Season 2 kicks off tomorrow

CEBU, Philippines —  Eight teams will battle for supremacy in the GOAT Basketball League Season 2, which will kick off tomorrow (Saturday, August 20) at the Cebu City Sports Institute (CCSI) gym in Barangay Sawang Calero.

Bannered by Joeric SJB of businessman-sportsman Joeric Calisang and Oliver Sanoy, the other contenders are the Admirals of Jake Caballero and Rey Entrina, DriveMax of Toper Sabellano and Jose Escandor, Verata of Wilfred Ponteras and Noel Sanico, DecaGots of Clark Mondares and Allen Tulod, Growling Ballers of Ricardo Labrague Jr. and Nelson Bataican, SlazBolak of Monalcris Cadavos and GD Tong, and Camagong  of Yaweh Capao and Alfred Caballeda.

League commissioner Tim Niño Sanico said the participating squads will play a single round robin in the elimination, with the top four qualifiers advancing to the crossover semifinals.

The winners will clash for the championship in a best-of-three series.

Before the hardcourt hostilities, a simple opening ceremony will take place at 2 pm.

The selection of best muse and best in uniform will spice up the short program.

To be played on Saturdays, the two-month tournament is supported by Dimsum Break, Harbour City, Ding Qua Qua, JC’s Spicy Sukang Tuba, Xe and Xyne Kitchen, Sunrise Shopping Cart, Hab Hab Siargao Restaurant, and AVT Engineering Services. — EBV
