Sarok Weavers rout Pantum to reclaim solo lead in PSL
CEBU, Philippines — The defending champion Consolacion Sarok Weavers launched a fierce second-quarter attack to blow away the Lapu-Lapu City Pantum, 86-64, during the resumption of the 2022 Pilipinas Super League (PSL) 21 Under-VisMin leg yesterday at the DM Reynes Sports Complex in Compostela, Cebu.
Dave Paulo chalked up 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds while Rovello Robles added 11 points, two rebounds and three assists as the Sarok Weavers reclaimed the solo lead of the 10-team tournament featuring the best U21 ballers in the VisMin region with a 7-1 win-loss record.
Ahead by just three early on, 13-10, the Sarok Weavers detonated a devastating 30-10 bomb in the second period to rip the game apart with an imposing 23-point advantage at halftime, 43-20.
It was cruise control for the Sarok Weavers from thereon.
All but one of Consolacion’s 15 hardcourt warriors hit the scoring chart spotlighting their balanced attack.
The Sarok Weavers will wind up their elimination campaign against the San Fernando Buffalos on Friday, August 19.
No player cashed in double figures for Lapu-Lapu City, which suffered its sixth loss in eight games.
