Cougars stun AEG for first win in Hoops Arlon Cup

CEBU, Philippines —  The Cougars logged their first win in style, stunning the previously unbeaten AEG via a close 66-64 decision in Hoop Nation’s Arlon Cup Season 1 at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

John Michael Balingit unloaded 20 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks as the Cougars snapped out of their four-game jinx while handing AEG its first loss after an impressive 4-0 start.

On the other hand, both the Trojan Warriors and Simple Blends improved their records to 3-2.

The Trojans Warriors thrashed the Brothers, 70-45, while the Simple Blends slammed Tera, 78-64.

Boboy Minesterio showed the way for the Trojan Warriors with 19 points, seven rebounds, and two assists while Glad Ygay paced Simple Blends with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and one steal.

In the other result, the Cebuanos upended the Gonzalodo Enterprises, 73-66, for its second victory in five starts.

Benick Selana topped  the Cebuanos with 24 points on top of six rebounds and four assists.

The three-month tournament is organized by Adrian Dy, who established Hoop Nation in 2015. — EBV
