Klay Thompson latest NBA star to visit Pacquiao at the Wild Card

CEBU, Philippines —  Three-time NBA champion Klay Thompson became the newest addition to the list of personalities visiting Pinoy ring legend Manny Pacquiao while training at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California.

Pacquiao, boxing’s only eight-division world cham pion, shared photos of his meeting with the Golden State Warriors sharpshooter on his Facebook page. The were joined by Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.

“Nice to have Klay Thompson at Wild Card Gym today! I told Klay I would teach him how to fight if he’ll teach me how to shoot,” Pacquiao wrote.

Thompson, a five-time All-Star, is the third NBA star after Fil-Am Jordan Clarkson of the Utah Jazz and Karl Anthony Towns of the Minnesota Timberwolves to descend on Roach’s fabled sweat shop just to have a glimpse of Pacquiao in just a week-one span.

Pacquiao, 42, is currently neck-deep in training for his hotly-anticipated showdown with the undefeated WBC/IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence set for August 22 (Phl time) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It will be Pacquiao’s first fight since he beat Keith Thurman by split decision to clinch the WBA ‘Super’ welterweight title in July 2019. The fighting senator has since been stripped by the WBA of his crown for his failure to defend his belt within the prescribed period. — EBV
