CEBU, Philippines —  The Cordova Dutchess Dagami Warriors notched another double victory to seize the solo lead in the Southern Division of the GM Wesley So Cup, the reinforced conference of the inaugural Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) online tournament played last Wednesday night on lichess platform.

Powered by Israeli Grandmaster Nitzan Steinberg, National Masters Merben Roque and Mario Magubat, and Woman International Master Bernadette Galas, the Dagami Warriors of PCAP vice chairman Ariel Potot dumped the Isabela Knight Raiders, 16-5, and the Cavite Spartans, 15-6, to jump on top of the South totem pole with a 19-4 win-loss record.

In sharp contrast, fellow Cebu contender Toledo City Trojans suffered their second back-to-back losses in the virtual tilt.

The Trojans first bowed to the Antipolo Cobras, 8.5-12.5, before getting thrashed by the San Juan Predators, 4.5-16.5, to drop to sixth place in the standings with a 14-9 slate in a tie with the Zamboanga Sultans and Negros Kingsmen.

On the other hand, the Lapu-Lapu City Naki Warriors split their games. They were mauled by the Manila Indios Bravos, 3.5-17.5, but tamed the Olongapo Rainbow Team 7, 13-8, to stay at seventh spot with an 8-15 mark. In the other result, the Cebu City Machers lost via a 10-11 cliffhanger to Cavite before yielding to the Cagayan Kings, 4-17. The Machers thus slipped to 6-17 with idle Palawan Queen’s Gambit and Surigao Fianchetto Checkmates.
