La Sugbo gymnasts shine again

CEBU, Philippines —  A week after stamping their classes in the Club Heymo International Friendship Cup hosted by Mexico, the young but promising gymnasts of Ritmik Jimnastiks La Sugbo under the tutelage of coach Darlene de la Pisa once again made waves.

This time, in the 1st MK Rhythmic Gymnastics International Online Competition spearheaded by Filipino organizers late last month.

In all, La Sugbo composed of athletes from the cities of Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Butuan, Tacloban, and Surigao hauled 11 golds spiced up with seven silvers and as many bronze medals in the four-day virtual tilt participated in by 121 gymnasts from 22 clubs in six countries.

Reyanne Corvera, Hannah May Subreviga, Leann Mae Lubang, and Colynne Marie Aguilar bagged two golds each in their respective categories.

Corvera topped the ball and clubs while Subreviga lorded it over the ball and ribbon events of the Senior Level 4.

Lubang pulled off a golden double in the ball and clubs of the Junior Level 4, while Aguilar produced a pair of gilts in the ball and clubs of the Pre Junior Level 4.

The other gold La Sugbo gold medalists were Jaiannah Marqeaux Viros (freehand, Baby), Dominique Rylen Labines (ball, Developmental Level 3), and Leanne Marie Manning (ball, Junior Level 4). — EBV
