Virtual Cebu Marathon gets underway today

CEBU, Philippines —  Close to 2,000 runners brace themselves for a different kind of experience as the Virtual Cebu Marathon 2021 gets underway today.

Even though the virtual race has started already, those who are interested can still join as the organizing Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC) extended the deadline for registration on Sunday, January 10.

This is being made possible because the running period for this year’s Cebu Marathon staged under the new normal is from January 8 to 25.

The participants are spread in the 15K, 21K, and 42K distances. They can choose to run wherever they want to at their own pace, time, and place.

However, they must complete the distance they are registered to at “one time” or within one single run and not split it into several days.

They can use any running app from their android or iOS smartphone to record their run. They can also use their GPS watch or fitness bands as long as it reflects the distance, duration, and date. Those who opt to run on a treadmill must take a photo of the treadmill dashboard.

All finishers will receive an e-Certificate, souvenir shirt, and medal.
