CEBU, Philippines — Cebuano world No.1 e-karateka James de los Santos raised his gold medal haul to 24 and counting.

The 30-year-old De los Santos once again outclassed world No.3 Matias Moreno Domont of Switzerland, 24.9-23.7, to reign supreme in the fifth edition of the SportData eTournament World Series, the most prestigious virtual kata competition.

“I’m widening the gap even further in the eKata world rankings since this e-tournament is nearly four times the amount of ranking points. Forward is the only way to go!” said De los Santos. “The fire continues to burn brighter.”

With his most recent triumph, the two-time Southeast Asian (SEA) Games bronze medalist galvanized his bid to stay on top of the world online karate rankings until the end of the year.

Since dislodging erstwhile front-runner Eduardo Garcia of Portugal last month, De los Santos just kept on pulling away from rest of the pack.

The International Shotokan Karate Federation of the Philippines standoutcurrently has 11, 920 points that is expected to balloon once the points he earned from the world series will be added.

Garcia is a far second with 8,740 points followed by Moreno (5,775 pts.), Silvio Cerone-Biagoni (5,470 pts.) of South Africa, and Nejc Sternisa (4,445 pts.) of Slovenia.

De los Santos, an outstanding alumnus of PAREF-Springdale, now trains his sights on gold No. 25 as he marched into the finals of the 4th Katana Intercontinental League.
