Online chessfest to kick off Consolacion fiesta activities

CEBU, Philippines — An online chess tournament scheduled this afternoon (Sunday, October 25) will kick off the week-long Consolacion fiesta activities.

Event organizer  Engr. Carlito H. Maglasang said the 5-round Swiss system tilt is open only to Consolacion players of all ages but they might consider entertaining outsiders depending on the number of participants they will draw.

As of this writing, at least 20 pawnpushers have already signed up for the event but the number is expected to increase as the organizers will still be accepting entries until 9:30 a.m today. Registration is free.

Action begins at 3 p.m. sharp over chess.com under the Consolacion Chess Club arena.

Aside from trophies and medals, cash prizes will be given away to the top 10 finishers of the virtual competition that is among the highlights of Consolacion’s annual fiesta celebration in honor of their beloved patron San Narciso on Thursday, October 29.
