CEBU, Philippines —  The ARQ Builders/KSB Glass and Kiboy’s Computer Solutions (KCS) booted out separate foes to set up a championship showdown in the Mayor Edgardo C. Labella 1st Charter Cup Basketball Tournament at the Cebu City Sports Institute gym.

Shaq Imperial cashed in 18 points and four rebounds as the ARQ Builders finished off the Dondon Hontiveros-led Fighter 50 Wine, 85-77.

Ferdinand Lusdoc added 15 points, three rebounds and three assists, while Jerick Cañada and Reed Juntilla connived for 23 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the ARQ Builders, who were in firm control of the match since cruising to a 41-26 lead at halftime. They further ripped the game apart after three quarters, 63-44, leaving Fighter 50 groping for form the rest of the way.

KCS, on other hand, booked the other final ticket after terminating ASPA, 75-68.

Arman Lao finished with 17 points, five rebounds and three assists while Rino Berami came up with a solid double-double show of 12 points and 14 rebounds for KCS, which used a searing third-quarter rally to turn back ASPA.

Trailing 36-37 at halftime, KCS launched a daring 18-6 counter-attack to seize control of the match, 54-43, for good heading into the final 10-minute zone of the contest.

KCS then neutralized ASPA’s offense in the windup to walk away with a seven-point victory.

As of this writing last night, ARQ and KCS were still slugging it out for the P150,000 top prize. The loser will take home P100,000.
