Salano, Martes top 10th SM2SM Run

CEBU, Philippines — Seasoned marathoners Richard Salano and Christabel Martes reigned supreme in their respective divisions during the 10th edition of the SM2SM Run yesterday morning at the SM City Cebu grounds.

Philippine Army’s Salano, who also represented the country during the recent Southeast Asian Games, was the fastest after finishing the 21K race in one hour, nine minutes and 11 seconds.

Salano outpaced his rival Jerald Zabala, who finished second in 1:10:31, while Prince Joey Lee settled for third with 1:11:46, clocking.

Rounding the top 10 in the men’s action were Anthony Nerza (1:13:16), Florendo Lapiz (1:13:26) Joseph Arnel Emia (1:13:35), Jerome Casinillo (1:16:09), Joselito Dugos (1:16:32), Andy Toniacao (1:16:37) and Michel Largo (1:16:56).

In the distaff side,  Martes took advantage thee absence of the country’s marathon queen Christine Hallasgo and former champion Mary Joy Tabal as she claimed the women’s crown in 1:29:09.

Lizane Abella trailed Martes at 1:29:35 while Evamie Villarin landed third in 1:35:13.

The fourth to 10th placers were April Rose Diaz(1:40:11), Kay Razel Cundangan (1:41:56), Josephine Rodriguez (1:41:57), Edna Jugarap (1:49:01), Linajane Aluba     ( 1:49:31), Jessie Ejoc (1:49:32), and Jonafe Grace Aragon (1:52:30).

Meanwhile, Jeson Agravante dominated the 12-kilometer action with a time of 39  minutes and 58 seconds, while Jimboy Lugay came out second in 40:17 as Junel Gobotia wound up third in 40:28.

Ruffa Sorongon, for her part, topped the women’s 12-kilometer action in 49:31 followed by  April Joy Alampayan (50:09) and Stephanie Cadosale (52:27) at second and third place, respectively.

Jason Padayao and Artjoy Regosa ruled the 8K division, while Jovan Vincing and Princess Jive Borneo shone in the 4K fun run.
