CEBU, Philippines — The Manila-based Black Stallions clobbered Team CLBA (Coach Leo Basketball Academy), 97-76, in their one-sided final match to clinch the championship of the 2020 Mayor’s Cup Under 16 Invitational Basketball Tournament over the weekend at the Cebu City Sports Institute gym in Barangay Sawang-Calero.

The Black Stallions, a developmental ballclub from Quezon City, dictated the pace of the match from the get go. They never looked back after coasting to 49-37 lead at halftime.

They grew even hotter for the remainder of the 40-minute duel on the way to come up a 21-point blowout.

Aside from the Black Stallions and CLBA, the two-day tilt spearheaded by the Cebu City Sports Commission through the initiative of councilor Dondon Hontiveros drew four other teams.

These are the “A” Team of Cagayan de Oro City, the Spartans of Ormoc, and the Passarelle squads of the University of San Carlos (USC) and Don Bosco Technical College, Inc. (DBTC).

Aside from showcasing their hoop skills, the participants were also able to help others in need.

In an admirable act of generosity, they all agreed that the cash prizes intended for the winners will be donated to the victims of fire that hit Duljo Fatima three days ago.
