Catmon advances into Govs Cup semis

CEBU, Philippines — The Catmon lady spikers virtually advanced into the the semifinal round of the Governor Gwen Garcia Unity Volleyball Cup after registering its fifth straight victory in the quarterfinals the other day at the Talisay City Sports Complex.

Catmon came up with a 25-17, 25-16 win over Toledo then followed with a 25-13, 25-12 victory over Dalaguete under pool A.

On the other hand, Mandaue is also hoping to join Catmon in the next round after scoring its fourth win in five outings.

Dalaguete and Tabogon got a win and a loss last Saturday that made it 2-3 for Dalaguete while Tabogon shares the seat with Toledo at 2-2. Argao is at the bottom with no wins in four outings.

Dalaguete won against Tabogon,18-25, 25-18, 25-16 during their encounter, but lost to Catmon later in the day.

Tabogon made up for its loss to Dalaguete picked up its second win at the expense of Argao, 25-20, 25-20 while Toledo lost to Catmon earlier.

In pool B, Talisay and Consolacion stands with an identical standing of 4-0 after both posting back-to-back wins.

Consolacion defeated Moalboal, 25-10, 25-22 and Tuburan at 25-18, 25-22.

Talisay, for its part, didnt break a sweat against Sogod  before winning against Tuburan as well, 25-19, 25-11.

Sta.Fe, is also hangs on with 4-1 slate after pulling a hard-earned win against Oslob, 25-13,17-25, 25-22 and against Moalboal, 24-26, 25-9, 25-10.
