CEBU, Philippines — It’s one rare moment in the sporting field when victory ends up in defeat - literally.

Flashing their spiking skills with great poise and composure, Team Yankee overwhelmed Team Victory in three straight sets to seize the women’s volleyball title of the Cebu City Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) Sportsfest 2019 the other day at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Barangay Sawang Calero.

Powered by the spirited spikers from barangays Cogon Ramos, Sambag 1, Sambag 2 and Sta. Cruz, the Yankee squad emerged as the best and the brightest among the 20 contending teams, thanks to the efforts of Ma. Luisa E. Besabella, Madel E. Rubi, Marissa Plenos, Pearl Antoinette Campehios, Rosalyn Roncal, Erlyn Navaja, and Dianne Padillo.

The other members of Team Yankee are Judylyn Satina, Michelle Diao, Kimverly Gallito, Kassandra Nina Iso, and Manilyn Rondez.

In the final match, Team Yankee easily took the first set via a 25-18 decision against Team Victory, which is manned by players from barangays Buhisan, Toong, Pamutan and Punta Princesa.

Team Yankee then went on to score a clean sweep, 25-20, 25-17 to bag the coveted championship. EBV
