SHS-Ateneo leads MYBL-Cebu winners

CEBU, Philippines — The Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu teams led a host of winners over the weekend as the MVP Sports Foundation Youth Basketball League-Cebu (MYBL-Cebu) resumed with a heavy schedule of eighteen games at the Sacred Heart School Mango campus gym and the Magis Eagles Arena in Canduman.

In Division 1 games of the Under 12 age group of the MYBL-Cebu presented by Smart Communications and backed by Cebu Landmasters Inc., SHS-Ateneo A overcame a tough Coach A-1 side, 56-50, with Xisco Cuyos leading the team with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Birthday boy Keenan Rasmo added 12 points and eight boards. Meanwhile, SHS-Ateneo B eked out a similar four-point win, 40-36, over Developmental Pardo as Macon Durban had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Allan Lua recorded an 11-9 output. Cebu Institute of Technology University cruised past Green Rose Centre for Academe, 53-11, led by Lorenzo Enriquez’s eight points and six rebounds.

In Division 1 games of the Under 15 age group, SHS-Ateneo Passerelle B won over GBCL-A, 50-41, with Brandon Sainz leading the team with 19 points. CLBA routed D Rabens A, 83-29. as Dawn Justol had 14 points. In Division 1 Under 18 games, SHS-Ateneo Juniors B stunned Team Adarna, 77-55, behind the 26 points of Uri Avila who drilled four triples. Lorenzo added 13 points including three triples. The team had a total of 11 treys for the game.

Team Mandaue dumped Benthal Asia, 89-41. Jhoernel Tangkay led the team with 18 points as LA Casinillo and Joey Villamayor had 17 and 13 points respectively, and also combined for 15 rebounds. USPF nipped Punta Alas, 59-56, on a triple by Jose Achacoso with two seconds left in the game.

He had a game-high 24 points, anchored on five triples. Sisters of Mary School-Boystown ran over Consolacion, 67-39 with the usual trio of Ivan James Cabodbod, Ryan Dizo and CJay Gonzales combining for 36 points. Southwestern University-PHINMA debuted with a 59-42 win over CITU with Kendall Limana and Dezeo Villanueva leading the Baby Cobras with 13 and 11 points respectively.

In Division 2 games, Basak San Nicolas won over Einstein School, 29-19, in an Under 12 game. Einstein made up for this in the Division 2’s Under 15 age group as it defeated Panthers B, 61-53. USC South trampled over GBCL-B, 64-29. Graphics Point Toledo-C stopped Developmental Pardo, 64-29.

Consolacion nipped One on One A, 54-50. And Talisay romped over D Rabens B, 87-38. In Division 2 Under 18 games, SHS-Ateneo Passerelle A trashed GBCL, 58-39. ABGF Labangon beat Einstein, 66-47.
