Four teams remain standing in NBTC-Northern Cebu leg
CEBU, Philippines — After the fourth day of hardcourt battle, four teams, three coming from public schools, stayed in the hunt for the coveted championship of the first ever Northern Cebu leg of the 13th Chooks-to-Go National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) League presented by SM over the weekend at the D.M. Reynes gymnasium in Compostela, Cebu.
These are the Compostela National High School, Lataban NHS of Liloan, Carmen NHS, and Rosemont Hills Montessori College, the lone semifinalist from private school.
Compostela NHS capped its campaign in the elimination round with back-to-back wins over Rosemont Hills, 78-70, and Liloan NHS, 91-71.
Rosement, however, kept its title hopes alive with an 83-68 drubbing of Green Rose Centre for Academe.
Carmen NHS, on the other hand, downed Lataban, 92-73, and Arcelo Memorial NHS (day class), 112-61, for a perfect 5-0 record.
Lataban though still made it to the last round of four after demolishing Cabangahan NHS, 102-91.
The semifinal pairings pit Compostela versus Lataban and Carmen against Rosemont Hills.
The winners will dispute the title in a knockout match.
The champion of the five-day tilt under the supervision of commissioner Ruben “Junjun” Nelmida Patotoy and backed up by SM, Chooks-to-Go, Vivo, Smart, Darlington-Exped, SBP,Phoenix, Go for Gold, Molten, Gatorade, ESPN5, Cignal and Compostela LGU will represent Northern Cebu to the SM NBTC League Regional Finals next year in Bohol.
