Lapu-Lapu Fiesta chessfest this weekend

CEBU, Philippines — Over P20,000 in cash prize is at stake for the winners of the 2019 Lapu-Lapu City Fiesta Chessfest slated on November 16-17. The first day of action will take place at the city’s auditorium while the second and final day will be staged at the Hoopsdome in Barangay Gun-ob.

The two-day tilt features three categories. These are the individual rapid open for rated and non-rated players regardless of age or sex, the individual rapid exclusive for residents and employees of Lapu-Lapu City and Cordova, and the kiddies Under 14 rapid open.

The champion in the individual rapid open will take home P5,000, while the second to fourth placers will pocket P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.

The top 5 finishers will receive P3,000, P2,000, P1,000, P500 and P500 in the individual rapid and P1,500, P1,000, P700, P500 and P300 in the kiddies U14 rapid open.

Registration fee is pegged at P100 for the kiddies, P120 for the individual, and P200 for the individual open.
