Lataban, Carmen NHS crush rivals, go 2-0 in NBTC-North Cebu leg
CEBU, Philippines — Lataban National High School and Carmen NHS pounded separate rivals to go 2-0 in the first ever Northern Cebu leg of the 13th Chooks-to-Go SM National Basketball Training Center (NBTC) League over the weekend at the D.M. Reynes Gymnasium in Compostela, Cebu.
Justine Noval and Harvey Salundaguit connived for 33 points as Lataban NHS hammered St. Louisse Academy, 101-36, while Ivan Martel scored 21 and Stephen John Bejoc chipped in 18 markers to power Carmen NHS to a 106-64 demolition of Britech College.
Compostela and Cabangahan NHS also stayed perfect after two starts.
John Michael Pilapil dropped 26 points and Joseph Wagas added 16 as host Compostela edged the GreenRose Centre for Academe, 86-83, while Adrian Jay Panangin scattered 29 points and Aldrin Duran donated 16 points to propel Cabangahan to a 95-75 rout of Arcelo Memorial NHS (night class).
The GreenRose cagers, on the other hand, readily bounced back from their previous loss and vented their ire on the Liloan NHS Extension-Don Bosco Campus, 92-82.
Earl Jethro Tautho fired 35 points while John Patrek Cardosa pumped in 19 points for GreenRose, which now holds a 2-1 win-loss record.
Don Bosco still has something to be happy about though as it slammed Santa Cruz Learning Center, 114-36, behind the scintillating 43-point show of Jay Michael Galicia.
In the other results, Rosemont Hills Montessori College blasted La Consolacion College (LCC)-Liloan, 74-54, Arcelo (day class) racked up back-to-back victories against Schildknecht School, 74-69, and St. Louisse Academy, 87-41, while Liloan NHS whipped Formative Academic & Skills Development School, 95-71.
The five-day tilt that will wind up on November 17 is backed up by SM, Chooks-to-Go, Vivo, Smart, Darlington-Exped, SBP, Phoenix, Go for Gold, Molten, Gatorade, ESPN5, Cignal and Compostela LGU. The champion will represent Northern Cebu to the SM NBTC League Regional Finals next year in Bohol. (FREEMAN)
