David Justin hits 4-0;Tayud, Garing into Alegado Cup finals
CEBU, Philippines — Marco Booker Panta unloaded 24 points and Chris Yonnel Perolino added 22 as David Justin stretched its unbeaten streak to 4-0 with a 106-81 shellacking of Geobert Store in the open category of the 10th Mayor Alegado Cup Inter-Barangay Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion.
Joseph Cabahug tossed in 14 points for David Justin of team owner Dennis Maglasang, which whipped up a furious offensive storm at the endgame to annihilate Geobert Store.
Leading by just four after three quarters, 79-75, David Justin closed the match with a devastating 27-6 attack to come up with a 25-point romp.
In the inter-barangay action, Tayud and Garing eased through the finals in their respective categories.
Nikolas Felipe Yu, Cassidy Christian Elopre, Jowil Sugarol combined for 40 points as Tayud streaked past Jugan, 67-64, to barge into the championship of midgets category A.
Down 43-46, Tayud staged a daring fightback in the windup to pull the rug from under Jugan.
Tayud will take on Pulpogan in the best-of-three finals series next week.
In midgets category B, Garing marched into the final round after booting out Tolotolo, 68-62.
Gabriel Alin charted 21 points followed by Junrix Casag with 11 points for Garing, which sets up a title showdown with Polog. (FREEMAN)
