Lanipga, Tugbongan race to semis in Alegado Cup
CEBU, Philippines — Lanipga and Tugbongan knocked out separate foes to barge into the last round of four in their respective categories in the 10th Mayor Alegado Cup Inter-Barangay Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion.
Jenmar Arcilla, Michael Barong, and Junrey Arcilla stole the show as Lanipga booted out Tolotolo, 96-82, to advance to semis in the seniors category B.
Jenmar Arcilla exploded for 31 points, Barong banged in 29 markers while Junrey Arcilla scored 27. Julito Medillo chipped in 12 markers for Lanipga, which was in full control of the match since taking an early 22-13 lead.
Lanipga will go up next against Garing, with the winner taking on Polog for the championship.
In the SK juniors category A, Matt Andrie Estrada, Jethro Sardoncillo, and Mhaglyn Joy Demecillo connived for 34 points as Tugbongan eliminated Nangka, 64-59, to ease through the semifinal round.
Tugbongan still has a mountain to climb though as it battles the twice-to-beat Pulpogan in the semis.
In the other game, Aljie Loro cashed in 16 points while Johnrey Nique and Joshua Aguante connived for 24 points as Tolotolo ousted Sacsac, 72-63, to march into the midgets category B semis.
In seniors category A, the defending champion Pulpogan lived and fight for another day after edging Cabangahan, 64-58, in their sudden-death duel.
Rexon Moneva paced Pulpogan with 22 points while Chris Yonnel Perolino and Ricardel Somosot contributed 13 and 11 markers, respectively. — EBV
