DBTC nabs 1st win in CESAFI bootfest
CEBU, Philippines — The Don Bosco Technical College (DBTC) bounced back after suffering a defeat in the opener with a dominating 13-1 victory over the hapless Sisters of Mary School-Boystown in the secondary division of the 19th Cebu Schools Athletic Schools Foundation Inc. football tournament at the Cebu City Sports Center yesterday.
The Bosconians dropped their first game to archrival Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu, but immediately showed that they are serious in getting the title back.
Josh Asignar was unstoppable for Don Bosco after connecting seven goals via the eighth, 18th, 28th, 33rd, 36th, 43rd, and 75th mark.
Will Obedencio also contributed at the 78th, 80th and 90th minute, while Charles Unabia , Miguel Orale and Vaughn Pacana also sank one goal apiece.
Kim Catedral gave SMS-Boystown its lone goal via the 26th.
Unlike DBTC, SHS-Ateneo failed to score its second victory after bowing to University of San Carlos-BED, 0-1.
Both squads were scoreless on the first half, but a deflection from an attempt by Louie Arreglo on the 65th crushed the hearts of SHS-AdC.
In the tertiary division, USC started its title retention bid with a scoreless draw with University of San Jose-Recoletos. (FREEMAN)
