Cobras, Webmasters in crucial showdown

CEBU, Philippines — The Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Cobras and the Joemang’s Surplus-University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters test each other’s mettle in a crucial match today in the 2019 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum.

This as the Cobras and the Webmasters are in an air-tight battle for the No.2 spot that goes along with a twice-to-beat incentive in the semifinals.

The Cobras are currently at solo second place in the seniors division standings with an 8-2 win-loss record but the Webmasters are closely tailing them at 7-3.

That scenario makes their scheduled 7 p.m. encounter more interesting, espesically that they still have one more game left in the double round elimination - both against the undefeated ARQ Builders-University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers.

In the first game at 5:30 p.m., the Cebu Landmasters-University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors will try to shore up their Final Four bid when they take on the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars.

The Warriors are at fourth place with a 4-6 slate while the Jaguars stand at sixth with a 3-8 card. Separating them are the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers with a 3-7 mark. (FREEMAN)
