Cebu Pink Paddlers shine in Hong Kong dragonboat

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu Pink Paddlers earned a podium finish in the Stanley International Friendship Dragon Boat Races 2019 the other day in Hong Kong.

The country’s lone female dragonboat team composed of breast cancer survivors, clinched the third place honor in the Ladies Open division of the 250-meter race.

The Pink Paddlers registered the fastest time of two minutes and 36 seconds. Two Filipino teams won the first and second place with Filipino Dragons being the fastest with a time of 2:31 followed by Dynamo Dragon Boat Team with 2:35, clocking.

AWA Globe Paddlers and Tori finished in fourth place with 2:41, while New Castle Dragon Hunters occupied fifth spot in 2:44.

The Pink Paddlers was supposedly in Hong Kong to compete in the 2019 Hong Kong Dragon Boat Carnival, but the event was cancelled due to unrest in the said country. (FREEMAN)
