UV Lancers eye third win in a row

CEBU, Philippines — The ARQ Builders-University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers hope to join the Southwestern University (SWU)-Phinma Cobras atop the leaderboard in the seniors division when they clash with the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars in the 2019 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Partner’s Cup today at the Cebu Coliseum.

A win by the Lancers would pull them even with the Cobras, who are currently enjoying the temporary lead with an immaculate 3-0 slate.

The Lancers, on the other hand, kicked off their campaign with back-to-back drubbing of the Tough Gear/Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats and the Cebu Landmasters-University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors.

UV will try to make it three in a row when it battles USJ-R, which has only one win to show in four starts, at 7 pm.

In the 5:30 pm opener under the juniors division, the USJ-R Baby Jaguars will square off against the OCCCI/CIT-U Wilkittens.

The Baby Jaguars, who are tied at the moment with the Tough Gear/SWU-Phinma Baby Cobras and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles on identical 2-1 records, shoot for the solo second place, while the Wildkittens are looking for their second win in four games. (FREEMAN)
