CEBU, Philippines —  Vaunted hardcourt sniper Albert Sacayan bombed seven 3-pointers of his 28 points as the ARQ Builders-University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Lancers downed the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue (UCLM) campus, 76-66, to stay unbeaten in the 2019 Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) Partner’s Cup at the Cebu Coliseum yesterday.

John Fritz Banzon banged in 21 markers as the Baby Lancers zoomed to the solo lead in the juniors division with a perfect 4-0 record.

Sacayan scored all his 12 points from beyond the arc in the first period to power the Baby Lancers to an early 24-10 lead.

It was cruise control for the Baby Lancers after they closed the first half with a 16-point advantage, 42-16.

Trailing by double digit for most of the way, UCLM did put up a courageous fightback towards the end of the match but could only pull within just six points, 66-72, as time wasn’t on their side with only two minutes left to play.

The Baby Lancers then scored the game’s last four points to preserve a twin figure victory.

Resil Ybanez scattered 21 points and Daryl Guerrero finished with 14 points but to no avail as UCLM suffered its fourth straight setback in as many starts.  – EBV
