CEBU, Philippines — Some of the best players of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association will test each other's mettle in the joint April and May editions of the CEPCA monthly tournament on Sunday (May 26) at the Barracks Chess Club in Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

The five-round Swiss system competition offers over P20,000 in cash prize courtesy of the club's dynamic president Engr. Jerry Maratas as part of his birthday treat for his fellow Cepcans.

The top contenders to watch out are National Masters Rogelio Enriquez and Arnolito Cadiz, Rosendo Yamyamin, Rey Flores, Peterson Sia, Amado Olea, and Jimmy Ty among others.

The handicapping time control is three minutes for Class A, 10 minutes for Class B, and 15 minutes for Class C entries.

The champion will pocket P7,000, while the second to fifth placers will take home P5,000, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000, respectively. The sixth to 10th will receive P500 each.

Registration fee is pegged at P100 for kiddies (14-under) and ladies and P200 for Cepcans inclusive of snacks. — EBV
