Talisay, Mandaue book semis spots in Governor’s Cup hoop

CEBU, Philippines — Reigning champions Talisay City Aquastars and the Mandaue City Ballers waylaid separate foes to seal their place in the semifinal round of the 2019 Cebu Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities and Municipalities Under 21 Developmental Basketball Tournament.

Talisay moved one step closer towards defending its title after trouncing Alegria, 95-77, while Mandaue hammered Argao, 92-65, to stay unscathed in five games.

Sporting identical 5-0 records, Talisay and Mandaue are already assured in the semifinals regardless of the outcome of their last quarterfinal matches.

Tuburan, on the other hand, bolstered its semis campaign with a 4-1 slate after gunning down Tabuelan, 85-73.

The Minglanilla Archangels also remained in contention for the Final Four race after crushing the Consolacion Sarok Weavers, 101-78.

Minglanilla improved to 4-2 while Consolacion fell to 3-2.

In the other results, Dumanjug clobbered the Medellin Sweeteners, 86-56, while Danao City downed Siempre Samboan, 84-77.

With 2-3 cards though, Dumanjug and Danao are already out of the semifinal race as well as the 1-4 Argao and 1-5 Samboan. (EBV)
