Cebuano word wizard shine in Malaysia scrabble

CEBU, Philippines — Young Cebuano word wizard Lord Garnett Talisic bagged the third place trophy in the Astar Scrabble Challenge International 2019 held at the Dewan Tunku Canselor in University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia over the weekend.

Talisic shone in the 12-under category where hundred of participants coming from different parts of the world competed. The University of San Jose-Recoletos product finished the 13-round competition with 11 wins and two losses.

His overall performance earned him the third place honor in the winners podium together with Malaysians Ariana Onyinyechukwu who took home the championship cup and Ahmad Aqmarul Harraz who secured the second place.

Aside from the winner’s cup trophy and certificate, Talisic also went home with 500 Malaysian Ringgit (P6,000).

Recently, Talisic won second place in the elementary division of the Philippine National Qualifying Scrabble Championship last April 7 at the Robinsons Galleria. (FREEMAN)
