CEBU, Philippines — Two Cebuano lifters will once again fight for the flag and country through the 2019 Asian Weightlifting Championships on April 18 to 28 at Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China.

They are University of Cebu’s Elreen Ando and Febuar Ceniza, both members of the national team.

Under the guidance of coach Ramon Solis, Ando and Ceniza will both compete in the senior division for the first time.

Ando and Ceniza were still in their junior years during the last time they represented the Philippines in the event. Ando wound up fourth while Ceniza placed 14th in their respective classes.

This time around, Ando is entered in the women’s 54 kgs. category and Ceniza in the 55 kgs. class.

The Samahang Weightlifting ng Pilipinas (SWP) is sending six females and four males in the event, with Olympic silver medallist Hidilyn Diaz leading the charge. (FREEMAN)
