USJ-R Balamban scores twinkill in Sinulog football

CEBU, Philippines — The University of San Jose-Recoletos Balamban campus made its presence felt after scoring a double championship in the first day of action in the ninth edition of Sinulog Football Festival yesterday at the Cebu City Sports Center.

The Josenians snared the mixed under-7 title before winning the under-9 trophy.

USJ-R boys showed that they were the hungrier squad after a lopsided 2-0 win over Giuseppe FC in the under-7 action.

USJ-R and Giuseppe booters meet again in the under-9 finals, but the result was no different after the Josenians prevailed, 2-1.

Giuseppe FC though didn't came up empty after it won the boys 13 title over Razkals, 1-0.

In the girls’ side, Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu and the University of Southern Philippines-Foundation both got a championship trophy each.

SHS-Ateneo girls topped the girls 15 at the expense of Sheba FC, 2-0.

USPF girls, for their part, easily dispatched Alcoy FC in the girls 18-under.

The Sinulog Cup resumes today with the 38-above, 45-above, inter-BPO men and ladies, inter-company and the men’s open.
