CEBU, Philippines — The Freeman spikers kicked off their campaign on a bright note in the first VECO Media Volleyball Cup last Sunday at the Harou Iwanaga gym in Barangay Sambag I, Cebu City.

TF bested Sun.Star Daily in come-from-behind fashion 15-25, 25-23, 25-17.

It was a double whammy for Sun.Star as it also fell prey to Cebu Daily News 25-27, 25-14, 25-9.

Also seeing action are the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) and DHYP with VECO fielding in a guest team.

They will play in a single round robin format, with the top four advancing to the crossover semifinals. The winners will then dispute the title.

The champion will pocket P15, 000, while second and third placers will receive P10,000 and P5,000, respectively.

Organized by the Cebu Media Volleyball Club, the tournament aims to promote sports and healthy living among journalists and media workers in Cebu.

It is presented by Visayan Electric Co. (VECO) in partnership with The Freeman, Skin 911 Facial and Slimming Centre, and  Cebu Federation of Beat Journalists (CFBJ). (FREEMAN)
