Sharks down Vipers in duel of E-Leagues titans

CEBU, Philippines — The Accenture Sharks bested the Teleperformance Vipers, 65-53, in a showdown of Elite Classic leaders in the Tanduay Athletics E-League for Basketball Season 14 last Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu gym.

Sherwin Resilla had 13 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals, while Junas Marion Misa also scored 13 spiked with nine boards and two assists for the Sharks, who used a 22-10 blitz in the second quarter to seize full control of the match at halftime, 37-27.

Aldene Batino finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Archie Brian Batua chipped in 11 markers as the Sharks  solidified their hold of the solo lead with a 14-1 win-loss record. The Vipers dropped to 10-2.

Germaine Jo Michael Guarisma was the lone Viper to crack double figures with 12 points.

In the other Elite Classic match, the Sykes Pioneers extended their hot streak to five game with a 70-65 drubbing of the Wipro Tigers.

Jan Michael Auditor scattered 29 points, 11 rebounds, three assists and two steals as the Pioneers hiked their record to 10-3.

Aaron Suson unloaded 31 points but to no avail as the Tigers suffered their ninth loss in 11 games.

In the EVO League, the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties shot down the Dyninno Jets, 71-69, while the JP Morgan Chase Bankers won by default over the Streamline Kangaroos.

Emannon Carlo Ocariza submitted 22 points, Robert Rebano fired 21 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals, and four assists while King Luigi Olbes added 18 points as the Tech Mighties improved to 9-4.

Rainier Dominic Obenza and Joseph Rey Chelle Sanchez netted 12 points each for the Jets, who slumped to their sixth defeat in 13 matches. (FREEMAN)
