CEBU, Philippines — Joshua Gellacone unloaded 14 of his game-high 19 points in the first half as the University of Cebu (UC) Junior Webmasters hammered the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildkittens, 64-45, in the 18th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) men's basketball tournament yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.

The likes of Isaiah Blanco, son of PBA star Dondon Hontiveros, Joshua Pacaña and James Incio also figured prominently as the Junior Webmasters nailed their fourth straight win and fifth overall in six games to stay at solo second place.

The Wildkittens slipped to 2-4.

Gellacone knocked in a pair of crisp triples, while Blanco and Pacaña also hit 3-pointers on their own in a lighting attack that powered the Junior Webmasters to an early 21-5 advantage.

Still on top at halftime, 30-21, the Junior Webmasters raised their lead to 15 points, 38-23, and the closest the Wildkittens could come was at 36-43 late in the third period.

The Junior Webmasters then handcuffed the Wildkittens to a measly seven points in the final frame while charting 17 to come up with a 19-point romp.

Earlier, Allan Jones Ruiz all scored his 16 points in the final half spiked with four treys to power the University of San Carlos (USC) Baby Warriors to a 59-53 conquest of the Don Bosco Greywolves.

The Baby Warriors now hold a 3-1 win-loss card, while the Greywolves slumped to their fifth straight defeat in as many games. (FREEMAN)
