TCC finishes strong
Team Cebu City boys volleyball team celebrate after winning the gold medal in the 2018 PSC Batang Pinoy National Championships yesterday in Baguio City.

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Team Cebu City wrapped up its campaign with 11 gold, 11 silver and three bronze medals at the final day of the 2018 PSC Batang Pinoy National Championships here yesterday.

 

TCC, which is considered as the biggest delegation, has a total of 36 gold, 40 silver and 40 bronze medals in the unofficial medal count.

The organizers refused to declare a winner as of press time as they are tabulating the rest of the results, but host team Baguio City remained on top of the heap with 46 gold, 46 silvers and 57 bronzes.

Dancesport Team Cebu City delivered three golds, six silvers and one bronze medal yesterday at the University of Baguio. Shadelle Nina Hernandez and Nigel John Angel won the juvenile C standard, while the tandem of Mitchloni Dinauanao and Ralph Kevin Lapaz dominated the juvenile A standard as Sofia Isabelle Quilaton and Kharl Michael Minoza topped the juvenile C Latin.

Cebu City kickboxers also showcased their wares in the Muay Thai competition as Andre Lanz Caniga, Jemarie Josh Ybanez and Ulysses Martinez clinched the gold medals. The silver medals were handed by of Zion Alexander Melecio, Mark Renwel Alforque and Joshin Dumaran.

Cebu City also claimed the gold medal in the boys volleyball event at the expense of Davao del Norte, 25-19, 25-16, while its girls basketball squad snared the gold with a 72-62 victory over Pangasinan.

The arnisadors of TCC also added two more golds courtesy of Harry and Hirlary Talledo, while Daniella Lacao notched the silver. Brylle Dagno, for his part, contributed with a gold in pencak silat.

In boxing, John Kevin Jimenez settled for silver after losing against Cagayan De Oro’s Jhalol Illudar via split decision in the paperweight class.

The bronze were handed by Coleen Marie Aguilar via the rhythmic gymnastics, Joshua Tul-id in the aero gymnastics and Krisen Yochabel Marie Sanchez in the girls under-13 chess event.

Meanwhile, Cebu Province secured its final gold through the effort of its boxer Alec Xandhre Bonita who won via unanimous decision over Mark John Onal of South Cotabato.
