David Justin nails back-to-back wins in Alegado Cup

CEBU, Philippines — David Justin rolled to its second straight victory  win at the expense of the skidding L & T, 69-67, in the open division of the 8th Mayor Teresa ‘Nene’ P. Alegado Fiesta Basketball League in Consolacion.

Jonil Maglasang and Erwin Brigoli each scored 13 while Arnel Momo added 10 markers as David Justin survived a hard-fought battle against L & T to earn a share of the second place with Boss KTV on identical 2-1 win-loss cards.

Emmanuel Villamor dropped 25 points while Benson Colango and Rey Gonzaga nailed 14 and 11 points, respectively, but their efforts went down the drain as L & T crashed to its third straight defeat.

In the other match, brothers Larry and Lemuel Malagar sparkled with 50 combined points as the Branz All Friends bested Doms Autoparts, 89-82, for their first taste of triumph in two starts. The Malagars were backed up by Jan Janiel Abinales with 12 points.

Warren Cañete, Franco Te, and Philip Niño Garcia all finished with 14 points for Doms Autoparts, which slipped to 1-2.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Villamor pumped in 31 points, Glenn Maghinay had 18 and Mils Anthony Linao added 11 as Danlag downed Poblacion Occidental, 84-76, to stay alive in the Inter-Barangay Seniors Category A, while Aljun Molo sizzled with 17 points as Panas escaped past Sacsac, 49-47, to remain in contention in the Inter-Barangay Seniors Category B.

In SK Juniors Category A,  Ruel Villarino charted 19 points, Michael Alinsug and Antonio Trangia connived for 29 points as Tayud ousted Poblacion Occidental, 71-68, while Marco Booker Panta, Albert Tero, Jassaint Maglasang and John Lloy Pepito posted a combined total of 56 points as Pitogo eliminated Jugan, 99-66.

On the other hand,  Joniel Molo finished with 16 points as Panas terminated Panoypoy, 51-33, while John Paul Talisic, Joelito Cantago and Joffitz French Ruelo connived for 35 points sa Tilhaong kicked out Polog, 55-53, in the SK Juniors Category B.

In Midgets Category A, Lance de la Cerna and Clark Jugan tallied 37 points across their names as Danlag sent Cabangahan packing, 69-63, while Polog and Sacsac stayed in title hunt in Midgets Category B after edging Panas, 50-46, and Tilhaong, 62-42. (FREEMAN)
