10,000 BC, Joeric, RWS bets shine in PSC monthly boxing

CEBU, Philippines —  Aspiring pugilists from 10,000 BC, Joeric Boxing Club and RWS Stable shone the brightest in the resumption of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC)-Visayas Monthly Amateur Boxing over the weekend at the Cebu City Sports Center.

 

David Mancao, Jay Bryan Baricuatro and Wyn Cabradilla of 10,000 BC lorded it over in the lower weight classes of the once-a-month tournament spearheaded by Amateur Boxing Alliances of the Philippines (ABAP) Central Visayas head and PSC Coordinator in-charge of boxing development Lorenzo “Chao” Sy as part of his grassroots program for Cebuano boxers.  

Mancao and Baricuatro both won by unanimous verdict over Prence Espina of Joeric Boxing Club and Jance Jezreel Quilaton of Team Cebu City in the 25 kgs. and 30 kgs. category, respectively, while Cabradilla eked out a split decision victory over Keyl Sumalinog of SEVA in their 31 kgs. duel.

Not to be outdone, RWS Stable of topnotch Cebuano promoter Rex "Wakee" Salud also registered three wins courtesy of Daryl Balderas, Manolito Egdamen, and Alexis Jabonero.

Balderas outpointed Arniel Fajardo of 10,000 BC in their paperweight (40 kgs.) match, Egdamen stopped Denviel Patillano of Team Cebu City at 1:14 of the second round in their flyweight (50 kgs.) battle, while Jabonero edged Cirizalde Dacumos of Team Cebu City by split decision also in the 50 kgs. division.

Joeric Boxing Club's Sean Abello and Kennth Espina likewise made their presence felt in the best performances of the day. Abello needed just 70 seconds to dispose off  Nathaniel Alfornon of 10,000 BC in their 35 kgs. match, while Espina forced Justine Equilla of RWS Stable to quit on his stool at 1:46 of the first round in their pinweight (44 kgs.) boxfest. 

Their teammate John Paul Dignos also hit the win column via split decision over Yeroge Gura of RWS Stable in the other 50 kgs. match-up. (EBV)
