UC rules Nat'l Students Weightlifting Championships

CEBU, Philippines — Young lifters from University of Cebu reigned supreme in the first Cebu Weightlifting Associations' (CWA) National Students Weightlifting Championships the other day at the Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu.

UC hauled five gold, three silver and one bronze medals to top the collegiate men and women and the women’s open invitational.

Elreen Ann Ando led UC’s charge with gold medals in the 69 kgs. division of both women's collegiate and women's open invitational.

RJ Polan delivered a gold medal in the 48 kgs. girls action of the students championships and a bronze finish in the women's open, while Ninah Abegail Patalinghug handed silver medals  the 69 kgs. class from the two events.

UC snared the overall championship trophy in the Women's Weightlifting Invitational after beating PEP Project Weightlifting Club and ICCT Colleges.

Ramon Padilla and John Dexter Tabique clinched the gold in the men's 105 kgs. and 85 kgs., respectively. Arvin Yba contributed a silver medal in the 62 kgs. class.

The rest of the gold medalists were ICCT Colleges' Jeychel Dizon (58 kgs.), New Era University's Anndrian Ducusin (+90 kgs.), University of Zamboanga's Rowell Garcia (56 kgs.), Bohol Institute of Technology's Davelloyd Pacaldo (62 kgs.), Mapua University's Neon Pagilagan (77 kgs.), University of San Carlos' Erik Uy (94 kgs.) in the men's class, Giselle Dehitta (48 kgs.) of PEP Project, Bohol's Saint Fe Daro (53 kgs.), ICCT Colleges' Jeychel Dizon (58 kgs.) and Anndrian Ducusin of NEU.
