Mari, Engbino top Cebu North 50 ultra race
CEBU, Philippines — Marivic Mari and Desiderio Engbino topped their respective divisions in the Cebu North 50 ultra marathon over the weekend in Bogo City.
Mari of Team Any Day Runner became the inaugural women's champion after finishing the lung-busting race in five hours, 54 minutes and 54 seconds followed by Mary Claire Maranga at distant second in 6:08:05. Lilian Racuya settled for third with a time of 6:34:11.
Rounding up the top 10 in women’s class were Noemi Menchavez(6:34:16) Celeste Guido( 6:36:35), Jocelyn Ycong(6:49:47), Cheryl Potot(7:01:17), Jessie Ejoc(7:03:46), Marie Jessa Sepe(7:14:34) and EJ Zabala (7:20:51).
Engbino, for his part, finished the first in the men's action with a time of 3:55:50. He outpaced another veteran Edil Batiancila who finished second in 4:05:53, while Insidro Moradas wound up third with 4:42:28, clocking.
Completing the top 10 finishers were AJ Mercado (4:54:33), Candelario Logroño (5:08:10) Robei Catat(5:08:10), Michael Saplao(5:12:35), Jomil Rollon(5:17:38), Ranie Kiamco(5:24:29) and Peri Pevida (5:26:50).
In the 25K category, Vicencio Narca and Filrose Mejorada emerged as champions in their respective divisions.
Narca finished in 1:40:54 to rule the men’s division while Mejorada crossed the finish line in 2:30:57 for the women’s crown. (FREEMAN)
