Accenture, Sykes, Teleperformance go 2-0 in E-Leagues

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — After stunning grandslam champion Convergys Converters with only six players in tow during their first game, the Accenture Sharks proved more lethal fighting with a complete lineup this time.

Testament to that, the Sharks downed another league heavyweight despite their top gunner Sherwin Resilla's offense was limited.

Resilla scored only 10, a far cry from his 35-point explosion in their 67-62 drubbing of Convergys but Junas Marion Misa, Archie Brian Vincent Batua, Miguel Lorenzo Calo and Mark Vincent Cabague stepped up bigtime as Accenture slammed the ePerformax Reds, 90-80,in the Tanduay Athletics E-Leagues for Basketball Season 14 on Saturday at the City Sports Club-Cebu Gym.

Misa finished with 16 points, Batua churned out 14, while Calo and Cabague connived for 22 markers as Accenture notched its second straight win in as many starts.

Robert Gilo dropped 24 points on top of nine rebounds, five assists and four blocks, while Nolan de la Pena banged in 21 points but their efforts went for naught as the Reds crashed to their second loss in a row.

Accenture is joined by the Sykes Pioneers and Teleperformance Vipers in the Elite Classic leaderboard with similar 2-0 records.

Sykes rallied past the Wipro Tigers, 73-65, while the Vipers outlasted the Telstra-Teletech Boomerangs, 84-62.

Jan Michael Auditor showed the way for Sykes with 27 points laced with six steals, two rebounds, and one assist followed by Earldred Cesar Montilla with 19 points, five steals, four assists and two rebounds.

The Vipers, on the other hand, drew 37 points combined from Dean Junber Escalon, Jayper San Villanueva Brigoli and Germain Jo Michael Guarisma.

In the lone EVO League match, Robert Rebano led a balanced attack with 21 points as the Tech Mahindra Tech Mighties subdued the SSI Research Now Warriors, 73-64.

King Luigi Olbes contributed 16 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists and two steals, Steven Cabanday added 14 and Dan Pestano hit 11 markers for the Tech Mighties, who joined the Optum Knights in the EVO League with 2-0 slates. (EBV) (FREEMAN)
