Lapu-Lapu summer hooplakicks off today

CEBU, Philippines — This year's edition of the annual Lapu-Lapu City Inter-Barangay Summer Basketball League will kick off today at the city's sports complex.

The categories to be contested are the 15-under, 18-under, seniors and 40-above.

The contending teams will be divided into two brackets and will play in a single round robin format. The top four will advance to the crossover semifinals, with the winners slugging it out for the title in their respective divisions.

Close to P300,000 in cash prize will be given away to the winners. The champion in the seniors division wtill pocket P100,000, the top finisher in the 40-above will receive P75,000, while the age-group champs (U15 and U18) will take home P50,000 each.

Backed up by the city government of Lapu-Lapu under the leadership of mayor Paz Radaza in association with the Lapu-Lapu City Sports Commission through the initiative of councilor Harry Don Radaza, the tournament is organized by Larry Villanil, Randy Imbong and Chelito 'Lito' Caro.— EBV
