Ruiz, Butad top Consolacion MTB duathlon
CEBU, Philippines — Lucille Ruiz successfully retained her crown as Jimboy Butad came out the men’s elite champion in the Consolacion Mountain Bike Duathlon 2.0 yesterday at SM City Consolacion.
Ruiz of Keith DeFiebre Cycling Team, won the women’s elite with a time of two hours, 25 minutes and 22 seconds followed by Hannah Bunn with 2:46:17, clocking. Ruiz’s daughter Pamela occupied the third place in 3:05:17.
In the men’s side, Butad of Team Hagunoy registered the fastest time of 1:39:35. Sulpicio Ombat placed second with the time of 1:40:31 while Metchel Pilapil landed third with 1:41:40, clocking.
Meanwhile, Glee Marie Largo snared the 25-29 age-group title with a time of 2:49:40, while Julianne Villaflor (2:53:28) and Merriam Calda (3:14:57) ruled the 30-34 and 40-44 divisions, respectively.
Marl Adrian Baguio dominated the 19-24 class with a time of 1:43:29, beating former national team pool member Chobie Duenas (1:45:29).
The other winners were Christopher Ceniza (15-18), Jeremie Hermosilla (25-29), Jheo Poy Juson (30-34), Minaro Poloyskie(35-39), Ervin Gadapan (40-44), Martin Cacanog (45-49), Michael Lauron(50-above) and Brian Brigoli in the plus size plus/fat bike division.
The tandem of Rhyke Armas and Jonel Emia won the relay event followed by the duo of John Cliff Debulusan and Roger Nierre as the pair of Abelito Niez and Freddie Perez settled for third. (FREEMAN)
