Talisay edges Argao in Gov’s Cup volleyball

CEBU, Philippines — Talisay City belles survived a scare from Argao to snare their first win in the 2018 Cebu Governor’s Cup Inter-Cities and Municipalities Under-18 Developmental Volleyball Tournament yesterday at the Carcar City gymnasium.

Talisaynons immediately took contron in the opening set with a close 25-23 win, but Argao came back strong in the second canto, 25-20, to force a deciding set.

Talisay and Argao both went into offensive mode but it was the Talisaynons who prevailed via a close 30-28 win.

Earlier, Balamban also outlasted Carmen in a three-setter, 23-25, 25-21, 25-18, while Danao overpowered Asturias, 25-11, 25-17 at the Sogod Muncipal Gym.

Oslob also registered its first tournament victory after silencing Santander, 22-25, 25-22,25-18, while Dalaguete annihilated Samboan in straight sets, 25-13, 25-11 at the Oslob Municipal Gym.

In opther games, Bogo City defeated Tuburan , 26-24, 25-18 as Tabogon prevailed over Santa Fe, 25-18, 25-11, at the Bogo City Sports Complex.

Sogod bested Asturias, 25-17, 25-16, while Danao blasted Carmen, 25-21, 25-06, at the Carmen Municipal Gym.

At the Alegria Municipal Gym, Dumanjug outsmarted Moalboal, 25-19, 27-25 while home team Alegria escaped Ginatilan, 25-14, 24-26, 25-23. (FREEMAN)
