The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines — The March edition of the Cebu Executives and Professionals Chess Association (CEPCA) monthly tournament will take place today, 2 p.m. at the second floor of J Centre Mall in Mandaue City.

The 5-round Swiss system competition still follows the handicapping format wherein Class A players will be given only five minutes per game and 15 minutes for Class B entries.

Cash prizes will be given away to the winners, with the champion pocketing P2,000. The second and third placers will receive P1,500 and P1,000, respectively, while the fourth and fifth will get P500 each.

The top finisher will also be joining early qualifiers Eduard de la Torre and Mario Bustillo in the year-ending grand finals also known as the "Battle of Champions" this December.

Entry fee is pegged at P100 for ladies and kiddies and P200 for Cepcans.—EBV
