Over P400T at stake in Cebu Marathon 2018
CEBU, Philippines — Bigger cash prizes are up for grabs in the Cebu Marathon 2018 this Sunday starting and ending at the Cebu Business Park.
A whopping P419, 000 in cold cash is at stake for the top performers of one of the most prestigious runs in Cebu.
Kenneth Casquejo, president of the organizing Cebu Executive Runners Club (CERC) said that the cash prize this year was more than half bigger compared to the past editions. "The amount was definitely bigger than last year," he said.
Casquejo said that they are giving out cash prize to the top three finishers in the 42K foreign category and the top 10 both men and women in the local division. Also receiving cash prizes are the top five winners in the 21K, 10K and 5K categories.
With the return of CERC as the chief organizing committee, a record-breaking number of participants are set to join the race this weekend.
This year’s participants has surpassed 2017 edition as they are set to draw more than 5,000 foot racers.
Casquejo added that they also had an increase in the number of participating countries from last year’s 26 to a new record of 36 different nationalities.
CERC promised a festive vibe during the race. The organizers also prepared a lot of Cebuano dishes including Cebu Lechon. Loot bags full of goodies and exciting surprises await the runners after the race.
There will be no full road closure this Sunday and they will keep the commuters and drivers updated this week regarding the race route. (FREEMAN)
