CEBU, Philippines - It’s a busy weekend for Cebu fitness enthusiasts as three running events will be staged beginning with the Alaska Family Run this Saturday at the SM Seaside City grounds in South Road Properties.

In line with the country’s celebration of the World Milk Day, the race will be done simultaneously in Cebu, Taguig, Davao and Naga City.

Now on its second time here in Cebu, the organizers have decided to divide the race into three distances–10K, 5K, 3K and 3K family, different from last year which was only a 3K fun run event.

Aside from the running event, there will also be a Zumba activity.

On Sunday, Cebuano runners may choose from DYAB Kapamilya Run or ‘Run to Donate Blood’ that will simultaneously be held in separate venues.

The Kapamilya Run that will start and end at the The Terraces of Ayala Center Cebu include 21K, 10K and 3K distances.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health-organized ‘Run to Donate Blood’ at the Red Cross Philippine Visayas Blood Center in Osmeña Blvd, will be purely a fun run with no finishers medal and shirts, no marshals, no water stations except at the finish line and aimed mainly for blood donation and helping save lives.

Organizers of the event though have designed a route for participants to follow.  — (FREEMAN)
