Pagara brothers head ALA Stars fight card

CEBU, Philippines - Considered as the hottest boxing siblings in the country, Jason ‘El Niño’ and ‘Prince’ Albert Pagara will headline the ALA Stars Provincial tours fight card on April 11 at the Maasin City gymnasium in their hometown of Maasin City, Southern Leyte.

Jason (32-2, 19KOs) and Albert (19-0, 13KOs) who are both on a winning-streak will both face Asian opponents yet to be named, in the slam-bang ALA Promotions card.

“It’s a big boxing event because this is the first time that the Pagara brothers will be fighting in Maasin City,” said ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer.

Jason, who holds the WBO International light welterweight title, will have his tune-up fight in this event as he prepares for a bigger stage fighting in the main-event of Pinoy Pride card in Dubai on June.

The 25-year-old won his last five fights capped with a lopsided unanimous decision victory against Vladimir Baez, a knockout artist from the Dominican Republic last November 30 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

“We’ve got to understand that Jason is in a very tough division (140 lbs.) and that is why he needs more exposure especially fights abroad.

After his Dubai fight, we are planning to send him to the United States to train,” said Aldeguer.

For his part, Albert who is fresh from his sensational first round knockout win against Indonesian veteran Isaack Junior last March 1 at the Solaire Resorts and Casino, will also try to impress his fans as he guns for a possible shot at a regional title.

“In a very young age of 20, Albert has been showing promise and we want him to gain more experience.  A regional title fight for him is possible and we are also planning to send him to the US together with his brother to train,” added Aldeguer.

This is the second time that the two Pagaras fought in one boxing card after their successful outing last August 18, 2012 in the Pinoy Pride XV event at the Waterfront Hotel. On that night, the older Pagara kayoed former Mexican rival Rosbel Montoya in a rematch, while Albert made a short work of Bukidnon's Alvin Makiling in the undercard. (FREEMAN)
