CEBU, Philippines —  The police are set to file today a frustrated murder case against a 19-year-old man who allegedly stabbed two women who caught the suspect stealing items in their house in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City Saturday afternoon.

The suspect, Adriane James Desamparado, is the neighbor and trusted errand boy of the victims, 61-year-old Simar Kaur, an Indian national, and the 17-year-old niece of Kaur’s Filipino husband.

The victims, who are now in stable condition at the Cebu City Medical Center, suffered stab wounds to their arms and faces.

Police Major Janelito Marquez, Labangon Police Station chief, said Kaur asked the suspect to check and fix their leaking faucet.

Kaur later went to check on Desamparado and caught him stealing items.

A startled Desamparado then strangled and stabbed Kaur, but the latter was able to shout for help.

When the minor victim ran and asked for help from neighbors, the suspect grabbed and stabbed her with a 13-inch kitchen knife.

Fortunately, the neighbors heard their screams.

Their neighbors cornered and mauled the suspect as seen in a video posted on Facebook.

Marquez said the suspect admitted to cops that he planned to steal the victims’ phones and he used illegal drugs.

The suspect is reportedly a frequent drug user but was not included in the police watchlist.
