CEBU, Philippines — Two houses in Sitio Tipolo, Barangay Bato in Toledo City, Cebu were reportedly burglarized by 12 armed robbers late Tuesday evening.

The bonnet-wearing robbers, including two women, carted away cash, jewelry and gadgets totaling to around P350,000 from three victims, Marvie Candol Montederamos,31, Christine Brusas Amodia, 34, and Sherilyn Delposo Amodia, 27.

Toledo Police Station chief Junnel Caadlawon said they are looking deeper into the incident to determine whether it was indeed a robbery or a diversionary tactic by an armed group.

“Our in-depth investigation is ongoing,” he said, adding that the robbers are yet to be identified.

The station chief said they were puzzled as to why the suspects robbed the Amodias whose house is located 100 meters away from the road.

The robbers only took P200 from Montederamos, the neighbor of the Amodias.

Caadlawon said the robbers seemed to be looking for something as the inside of Amodia’s house looked like it was hit by a storm.

“Amo sad gipalapdan among investigation kay sa kadaghang balay nga gi-agian, iyaha (Amodia) man gyud ang gi-rombo. Mura man gud og giagian og bagyo ang iyang balay,” he said.

Based on the initial investigation, one of the Amodias just arrived in Toledo Tuesday and went back to her house in Barangay Pasil, Cebu City yesterday.

The robbery incident was received by the city police station at 3:30 a.m. yesterday.

Citing the statement of the house caretaker, Caadlawon said, the robbers even managed to eat a meal.

“Nisud sa balay ug nangaon pa gani. Mao na among gitan-aw kun unsa gyud ang motibo sa pagpanulis. Nganong siya raman gyud ang gitoan og tulis nga sudlunon man gani ang lugar,” said Caadlawon.

He said cop investigators were told that the robbers also took a package, which contents remain unknown, from Amodia’s house.

One of the Amodias is allegedly a former partner of a detained drug personality in Cebu. — KQD (FREEMAN)
